In this dialogue novel, a Muslim teen loses his mother to cancer. He's then involved in a car collision and accused of reckless driving. He winds up in prison. His community service project upon release brings him closer to family and friends. He eventually comes across a young woman with his mother's heart and he falls in love. She has a struggle of her own: whether or not to wear hijab. In the end, they marry and have a son. They name him Aylan, for the Syrian child who washed upon a Turkish shore. May his memory be for a blessing.
