Again

Vulnerability was in Elle’s voice - the depths and heights. Sound waves washed over the audience. She sang barefoot on a vast, black stage. Music was her truth - her freedom and conviction.

Her heart illumined the night. Love shone through her iridescent, brown eyes. Riding the crest, the audience bathed in moonlight at the outdoor theater by the ocean. A towering giant of a performer, she breathed between notes and riffed like a siren.

She held the microphone and gazed into the stars. Her dream to sing and dance across the globe had come true. She gave hope to people. She swayed to the rhythm of live percussion.

After the show, Brian held her hand and placed an engagement ring on her finger. “Will you marry me?” He winnowed.

Elle said, “Yes!”

“You’re beautiful. I’d love to have you on my arm. Cheers to our success,” Brian continued, holding up a glass of champagne. They sipped the bubbly and touched lips.

He ran his fingers through her hair. His hands caressed her skin, as smooth as rose petals. They kissed again and again. In so many ways, their journey had just begun. Brian was the inspiration behind her songs. He elevated her with his devotion and adoration. She was smart and zany. She sang in so many different languages that she was an international sensation. After a night entangled in an embrace, the morning light pierced the sky. Another day together, an awakening.

They exchanged few words, but they read into each other - their souls transparent. Gently, they learned to trust each other, traveling the world together. Flight after flight. Night after night.

On their wedding day, they said their vows. Their relationship held promise. “I love you,” Elle sang to Brian. He cried. He had met the love of his life.

Friends and family partied nonstop for days. Elle had really blossomed. Her smile was emblazoned in Brian’s memory for a lifetime. He remembered her whenever they spent days apart. They had lives to live, things to accomplish. They gave each other space to be unique. Their love was evidence of the universal need for acceptance.

Oh, how they loved.
