Day 7
In the Book of Genesis, after God created man and woman and gave them dominion over the earth, He saw creation and the order in the universe, and He assessed it as “very good” (Genesis 1:31). Have you ever felt you did something very well? When was the last time you acknowledged it to yourself?
Those two words: very good (tov meod). They mean more to me than all the literary criticism and film reviews anyone could ever pen. People will distract you with advertisements. They will have you – judgmental – looking at the audience size, the profit margin, the competition. We avoid the truth and seek refuge in fiction. How many of us have given up on the belief that life has meaning? Or that life is any good? Or that we could contribute to the making of something beautiful?
Creation was very good. It was pleasing. It had worth. What changed?
Allah loves the good doers (Qur’an 2:195). Those who do good are beloved by God. Keep doing good. Don’t invest in anything or anyone that diminishes your potential. People will dangle belonging in front of you like a carrot on a stick. Don’t chase after it. Be and become. You belong to God.
I want to share the hope I have in Him – that Merciful, Compassionate God. Lately, I’ve been watching YouTube. As a member of an interfaith community, I am blessed to see the beauty in a diverse array of religions. I am also blessed to begin a journey and to begin again after a great deal of exploration. Whatever I do, I want to be able to say after an accomplishment: that was good or better yet, that was very good.
Not everyone alive today will live to see tomorrow. Embrace life before it ends. Find peace in God and His plan, His will.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
What better truth to land upon as a conclusion for this short seven-day journey toward inspiration? Thank you for engaging in flight with me as we rise high above the dust and mire, up instead toward our ideals, high above the clouds and the rain of transformation – the tears we cry as we change in life; as we return to holy ground, take off your shoes and prostrate in prayer. Give God the reins and let Him lead you home, to success, to fulfilled promises.
As we return to taking care of ourselves after having neglected our purpose for however long, let us focus on accomplishing our most meaningful, cherished, treasured goals – goals that align us with God’s will for our lives.
I hope you gain perspective and clarity in this trying world. Remember to try, try, try again. Don’t give up!
Make the next seven days powerful and purposeful. Remember to share your journey with someone you love. Please share this writing, as well. If it inspired you, it may inspire someone close to your heart.
Tu es mon ciel.
You are my sky. I am free to fly!
With love,
Yerusalem
